Growing up on a small island teaches you that everything is connected. Resources are finite, systems are visible, and the consequences of every decision are felt by everyone. That worldview — that things must be built to last — followed me from Aruba to The Hague.

I'm Jonathan Arends, a Lead UX & Product Designer with 14 years of experience working on high-impact projects in the public sector: government services, financial regulation, and critical national infrastructure. I specialize in Service Design and Enterprise Modernization — designing systems that serve millions of people at the moments that matter most.

Outside of work, I write, photograph, and think.

Most of my best work is invisible. When it functions the way it should, nobody notices (and that's the point).
